Beverages in Africa

Tanzania – The Top 10 Beer and Flavoured Alcoholic Beverage products in Tanzania hold 78% of market share in these categories.  These are in an average of 62% of outlets in the country. Despite Kilimanjaro Lager being the most sold beer brand in the market, the Castle Lite 330ml is the top selling Stock Keeping Unit.

Mozambique – When it comes to alcoholic beverages, beer is losing its importance marginally as flavoured alcoholic beverages and spirit’s gain. Beer volumes are 17% lower in June 2025 than they were in June 2024.

Botswana – Coca Cola is the #1 top selling brand in Non-Alcoholic Ready-To-Drink beverages, with the 2l plastic bottle being #1 in value and volume in Jun’25.

Uganda – Water is driving Non-Alcoholic Ready-To-Drink growth. It has contributed 65% to volume growth in the past quarter vs. 2024. It also saw a price deflation of – 3.4% driven by economical brands.

Nigeria – Beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage category with Trophy Lager’s 600ml bottle being the SKU with the highest sales volume, and Heineken’s 600ml bottle the SKU with the highest sales value.
