Coega nominated for Best Employer & CSI Ubuntu Awards

Coega

The Coega Development Corporation (CDC) is waiting eagerly on the announcement of winners at the prestigious 18th BBQ awards ceremony taking place at the Emperors Palace, in Johannesburg on Friday night.

The BBQ awards will be celebrating South African organisations that have demonstrated agility in the workplace and who are high-performance pioneers, highlighting their achievements for local and international business.

For many years now, the CDC has been nominated in the Best Employer Award and the CSI Ubuntu Categories.

This year, Coega is up against some credible organisations as finalists, all running for a prestigious award.

The Best Employer award seeks to encourage and promote sustainable black business and transformation through recognition of good corporate governance leadership and achievement.

The award further recognises organisations that prioritise socio-economic and sustainable growth as well as increased employment opportunities.

In addition, the award recognises the best organisation contributing in job creation through practices that directly impact business performance and innovation.

“With the CDC’s 20 years on existence and striving for excellence, the nomination as the Best Employer is a demonstration of our collective effort to excel in everything we have been doing not only to advance the development of all our valuable employees but also to create value for all our stakeholders,” highlights the CDC’s Head of Marketing, Brand and Communications, Dr Ayanda Vilakazi.

The CSI Ubuntu category recognise organisations which delivers a high combination of positive social and business outcomes.

It further acknowledges organisations with deep commitment towards Corporate Social Investments (CSI) with projects that exemplify best practice.

“The CDC has enabled a significant shift towards socio-economic development through its initiatives which include giving back to the community particularly the area it operates in, which directly speaks to Coega’s vison as the catalyst for championing socio-economic development,” says Dr Vilakazi.

The Coega nomination follows numerous prestigious awards already received by the organization.

Amongst some of the recent awards include; South Africa’s Investor of the Year (the dti’s SA Premier Business Awards 2019), Exporter of the Year, and Top Employer in SA: Public Sector (the Top Employer’s Institute 2019); Employer of the year Award: Oscars of South African Business.

Coega is the number one SEZ in Africa and certainly potential investors should look no further for their investment needs.

“It is no secret that an agile employer is the key to any organisation whose innovative values create a conducive environment and plays a major role in establishing standards of excellence in response to South Africans’ service delivery needs”, concludes Dr Vilakazi.
