WHEN 29-YEAR-OLD TAXI driver, Athabile Ngxeba entered the Caltex “Throughout Summer we’ve got you covered” national competition last December he had little idea that he would walk away with one of twelve brand new VW Polo NF 1.0 TSI Trendline cars.
Ngxeba, a local taxi driver from East London, entered the competition after filling up his taxi at Walker Motors in Butterworth while travelling to Durban to go and pick up a taxi.
Such was his surprise when he received the call informing him that he was one of the lucky winners that he first thought it was a scam.
“I was travelling with some of my friends and had to stop and get out of the car to gather my thoughts – I could not believe what I was hearing!”, said an excited Ngxeba.
Ngxeba is the owner-driver of his taxi which is his source of income.
“When I need to assist my mother or child it means my business must stop, now having my own private vehicle it means that the business can continue uninterrupted – Caltex has helped to make something that was only a future plan, a reality for me today”.
He received his vehicle from Pat Kelly, Caltex EC Marketer CEO, recently in East London. Kelly congratulated a jubilant Ngxeba and said that customers remain their number one priority.
“At Caltex Eastern Cape we believe that our customers are our first priority, and if we want their support, we also need to support them in return” said Kelly.
Kelly also had a word of praise for Walker Motors (Butterworth) from where the winning entry originated.
“Walker Motors has been one of our top performing Caltex sites in recent years, and their success can be contributed in many ways to the enthusiastic staff and the continual excellent and professional service afforded by the staff”.
Not only was Athabile presented with a new car but Caltex also ensured that it had a full tank to set him off on his travels.
