Port of Ngqura Liquid Bulk Terminal

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has confirmed that it was informed of the challenges at the Port of Ngqura Liquid Bulk Terminal in Port Elizabeth.

It said that Oiltanking Grindrod Calulo (Pty) Ltd (OTGC), which is developing the Liquid Bulk Terminal, said it was facing insufficient customer commitment.

“The facility is intended to service fuel importers in the Nelson Mandela Bay region and to replace the existing Tank Farm in the Port of Port Elizabeth,” it added.

“TNPA committed to deliver enabling infrastructure to facilitate and enable the development of a Liquid Bulk Terminal in the Port of Ngqura.

“To date, TNPA has completed all the design work and all major construction work is in progress and scheduled to be completed by September 2020.

“TNPA is currently engaging OTGC, the PE oil companies, stakeholders and all the relevant authorities to formulate and implement a way forward. “
