Roadworks on the R67 between Swart Kei River and Queenstown

R500m road project to rebuild damaged KZN infrastructure

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) on Tuesday advised motorists of roadworks taking place on the R67 between Swart Kei River and Queenstown.

There will also be road closure between Kamastone turn off and the traffic circle from Wednesday, 10 March 2021.

Deviations have been constructed to avoid stop-and-go sections on the road and traffic will flow in both directions.

The section of the R67 between the Kamastone turn off (km24.5) and the traffic circle (km33.2) will be closed to the public for estimated duration of 18 months. Only local residents will be able to use the gravel road for the 18 months. The detour from the Kamastone turn off will be an existing surfaced road for 7km to the R61 and a further 10km from the T-Junction via the R61 to Komani (Queenstown).

“Motorists are advised to use caution when making use of the road,” said Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region’s Manager.

SANRAL apologised for any inconvenience caused.
