WRAPP – new South African app helps businesses recycle waste

WRAPP

A new South African-developed waste services app, WRAPP (Waste Recycling App), is helping businesses do what’s right environmentally.

WRAPP is an innovative tech start-up that uses a simple mobile application to connect independent truck owners to businesses needing waste affordably and responsibly removed and disposed of.

A member of the Institute of Waste Management South Africa and a City of Cape Town-accredited waste services provider, it moves most types of recyclables and solid waste from 1.3 to 18 tons, using skip bins, RORO (roll-on/roll-off) bins and tipper trucks.

How WRAPP works to better recycling in businesses

Online sign-up takes under 90 seconds. Business owners, project managers, site managers and other professionals choose the waste type, truck type and pick-up time, and get a quote in 60 seconds.

WRAPP then instantly processes the order and dispatches or schedules the closest available truck to the site.

Wrapp uses only approved recycling companies, and customers get rebates on recycled waste through discounted prices.

The app’s live tracking and notifications feature gives customers access to a comprehensive audit trail, from removal to recycling or responsible disposal.

“I wanted to make it easy for customers to be certain their waste is being properly handled, including where it ends up,” says founder Clive Amsel.

“With this technology, there’s no reason that dealing with waste in a responsible way should be a hassle anymore.”

With 60 service providers registered in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban – checked for roadworthiness and compliance with national waste regulations each quarter – Wrapp serves over 700 clients and plans to roll out nationally by the end of the year.

WRAPP is available for Android devices from the Google Play store and on www.wrapp.co.za.
