Freelancing in Europe is experiencing continuous growth yet the working conditions and
policies remain stagnant.
European Freelancers Week was created to amplify the voices of freelancers across Europe
and raise awareness of their important role – and their unique position in terms of working
conditions and benefits.
The future of Europe lies in freelancing and freelancers should have legal protections for
their civil rights. Freelancers’ benefits and working conditions should be formulated for their
actual ways of working and should ensure that they have protections and benefits just as
companies and employees have.
As the freelancing industry experiences continuous growth and change, EFWeek changes
with it.
We are excited to announce the pivotal change that #EFWeek will be experiencing this year!
Over the years, #EFWeek has focused on fostering connections and sharing knowledge
among freelancers.
However, this year, we will significantly change that focus.
We will still shine a light on the enormous value freelancers bring to the European economy
and society. But now we are also committed to a concrete goal.
Our aim is for freelancers to share and exchange ideas, experiences, and skills regarding
how best to make the political and structural changes they need locally, based on the
principles of the #EFWeek Manifesto.
The manifesto
The #EFWeek Manifesto outlines a set of basic principles and demands to safeguard the
rights and interests of freelancers.
We firmly believe in:
- Fair compensation for freelancers;
- Access to social benefits;
- Protection against exploitative practices; and
- Recognising freelancers’ professional contributions.
By advocating for these principles, we aim to create an environment where freelancers can thrive and further contribute to the European economy.
With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming #EFWeek events of 2023.
Our events are designed to inspire action, raise awareness, and support freelancers in
navigating the challenges they face.
The workshops and sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including advocacy, building
networks, understanding regulations, and financial planning.
Our goal is to equip freelancers with the tools and knowledge they need and to find support,
connect with like-minded individuals, and strengthen their collective voice.
By coming together, we can amplify our impact and drive meaningful change in the lives of
freelancers in Europe.
We believe that through collaboration and sharing of ideas, we can create a more inclusive
and supportive environment.
