Breaking The Bias with Carol Mazibuko

Breaking The Bias with Carol Mazibuko

If ever anyone epitomized what the results of hard work and dedication can result in, it is Hlengiwe Carol Mazibuko.

She went to school in Ladysmith, despite lack of resources and a lack of opportunity, Carol has worked relentlessly to establish herself as an academic.

She matriculated from Emhlwaneni High School and thereafter moved to Durban to complete her Bachelors of Administration at University of KwaZulu Natal.

Having accomplished that and started her employ at UKZN as an administrator. Her passion for academia saw her register immediately for her BCom Honours in Supply Chain Management.

At the end of that, one would have imagined she would have been content. Being the driven individual she is, she did not relent but pursued further academic development by completing her 4 year Masters in Supply Chain Management from her Alma mate.

“I never wanted to be mediocre or denied opportunity that is the reason I was determined to continue studying. There is a saying, ‘The collapse of education is the collapse of a nation’, I personally wanted to contribute to the educating and developing leaders so I could leave my country stronger and better.”

“One of my notable academic achievements is my presentation to National Research Conference on Business Management and Sustainable Development held in Durban, south in 2017, my paper was titled: Supply Chain Management: Literature Review,” said Mazibuko

Carol has worked her way from being an entry level administrator to today being an Academic lecturer at REGENT BUSINESS SCHOOL where she impacts the lives of her students every day.

“Supply Chain is what keeps the wheels of our economy turning, the REGENT BUSINESS SCHOOL SUPPLY CHAIN degrees empower graduates to rethink, disrupt and innovate in an ever evolving space,” said Mazibuko.

“I am so proud to be a part of this. As we celebrate International Womens Month, I want to encourage women to break the bias that one can only succeed if we come from advantaged backgrounds, sacrifice and hard work will yield the results you can personally be most proud of.”
