PacFlange – hygienic rollers for the food industry

Many food processing, cleaning and preparation industries use a large amount of water.  This water can be very destructive to steel roller bearings on the conveyors not to mention being unhygienic when greased bearings help to move the conveyor.

Pacflange conveyor units are designed to replace the conventional greased roller bearings.  These units are grease free and as a result, require very low maintenance.

What makes PacFlange so effective?

Most importantly the PacFlange components are unaffected by water but at the same time the components are all food grade.

David Kirk, Managing Director at Alignment with Laser, the South African agents for PacFlange, says, “PacFlange consists of a food grade housing, a marine grade stainless steel sleeve that is grub screwed to the shaft and which runs on a ThorPlas-White bush.”

ThorPlas is an engineered food grade thermoplastic that is self-lubricating with low friction and wear properties and is specifically designed for food and water handling environments.

David adds, “Apart from the hygienic element, there are numerous advantages of using PacFlange.  It is grease free, easy to install and doesn’t cause catastrophic failure.  The result is that maintenance time and costs are minimal.”

Uses for PacFlange

“The industries that use PacFlange are those that use a lot of water in the food preparation process. They are particularly useful in the seafood processing environment where salt water can cause major problems for steel roller bearings.  From washing fruit to clean meat at abattoirs PacFlange is your best choice for conveyor units,” says David.
