Sugar Beach Resort in Elysium is a halaal- and family-friendly resort, providing a unique visitor experience in this beautiful part of the world. Behind its success is owner Sheila Fynn, a woman of immense strength, vision, and heart.

Her journey with Sugar Beach Resort began with a dream and a deep commitment to creating something lasting. When she took on the resort, it required two full years of tireless maintenance, renovation, and hands-on effort to breathe new life into the property.
Through determination and sacrifice, Sheila created Sugar Beach Resort into the in-demand tourist destination it remains today. Now, 15 years later, she continues to lead with resilience and grace, still trading strong and inspiring everyone who crosses her path. Her presence can be felt in every corner of the resort, from the warm welcome guests receive to the thoughtful touches that make each stay special.
5. Halalisiwe Mncwango: Director & Head Chef at Hala Lisa

She is now a testament to women rising against all odds! From a humble restaurant in a two-bedroom flat, Hala Lisa has grown into a top tourist attraction, an isiZulu-themed restaurant and catering company.
Halalisiwe is now a Culinary Arts graduate and a professional head chef of her own company, as well as venturing into other businesses, growing her portfolio and income streams. This not only benefits her and her family, but also the many other women who are employed at Hala Lisa.
