  • Q-KON Welcomes Eutelsat’s Brand Unification, Confirms Continued Rollout of Twoobii-LEO Smart Satellite Service in Africa

Q-KON, a leading provider of satellite communication solutions in Africa, today announced its full support for Eutelsat’s recent brand unification, which sees all activities brought under the Eutelsat name. This move simplifies the company’s identity while maintaining OneWeb as the brand for its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation.

The consolidation, which follows Eutelsat’s 2023 acquisition of OneWeb, streamlines the customer experience by providing a single point of access for all services. Q-KON confirms this development will not impact its commitment to rolling out its Twoobii-LEO Smart Satellite Service, which leverages the OneWeb LEO constellation to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity to clients across the African continent.

The combination of Eutelsat’s Geostationary (GEO) and LEO satellite fleets positions the company as a hybrid leader in the satellite industry. This unique GEO-LEO model allows partners like Q-KON to offer a versatile range of solutions that address the diverse and often challenging connectivity needs of the African market.

“Our partnership with Eutelsat remains a cornerstone of our strategy to provide innovative and reliable connectivity. The continued use of the OneWeb name for the LEO constellation is an important signal to the market, confirming the technology’s established presence and our ongoing commitment to rolling out the Twoobii-LEO Smart Satellite Service to empower businesses and communities across Africa,” commented Dawie de Wet, Group CEO of Q-KON.

The Twoobii-LEO Smart Satellite Service is specifically engineered for African business use cases, providing robust, always-on connectivity for a variety of sectors, including finance, mining, production, retail, and government. By combining Q-KON’s local expertise and engineering with Eutelsat’s advanced satellite infrastructure, the service bridges the digital divide and supports digital transformation in both rural and “off-grid” urban areas.
