The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic), in partnership with Productivity SA, Gauteng Department of Economic Development, Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) and Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP) will host a milestone workshop where client companies will share how they managed to successfully deal with challenges stemming from the new world of work.

The workshop will take place at the Premier Hotel in Midrand, Gauteng on 25 August 2022, from  09:00

The aim of the workshop is to interact with companies that have demonstrated resilience in the difficult economic environment to sustain their businesses through the implementation of Productivity SA‘s Workplace Challenge Programme.

The Workplace Challenge Programme, which is funded by the dtic, is one of Productivity SA’s business transformation and competitiveness improvement flagship programmes, which aims to improve the productivity and competitiveness of enterprises through improved value chain efficiencies, implementation of clusters for industrial competitiveness, collaborative relations, continuous improvement and establishment of model companies to disseminate processes and lessons.

The Workplace Challenge Programme’s interventions are targeted at the strategic economic sectors as identified in the sector master plans. The outcome of the workshop will enable participating companies to compete in the global market and encourage employment security through growth.

The Executive Manager of Productivity SA, Ms Amelia Naidoo says the milestone workshop is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of the programme and the relationship between Productivity SA and the dtic which spans over 20 years.

“In the past five years the Workplace Challenge Programme has supported 665 enterprises nationally with 113 enterprises from Gauteng. Productivity improvement is the most effective way of ensuring ongoing competitiveness, long-term business success, economic growth, and consequently, tackling the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality,” says Naidoo.

The Workplace Challenge programme provides training materials comprising the basics of world-class competitiveness in five Toolkit modules.

The cluster facilitators assist each cluster and individual member companies with the implementation of Workplace Transformation Toolkits and doing regular audits.
